If you're looking for a beautiful place to get eloped in Rocky Mountain National Park in the spring or winter time, Bear Lake is a fantastic location! I love photographing elopements here just about any time of year. Just a super short walk from the parking lot and with great mountain views, Bear Lake is about as accessible as it gets! Bear Lake is one of the designated wedding sites in Rocky Mountain National Park and you will need a special use permit to get married here. Don't try to sneak in! When I met Forest at the trail head to photograph his and Kassidy's wedding earlier this month, he said he'd been approached twice by rangers making sure he had his permit. They probably knew he was there to get married since he was in a suit! His mother was there as well and said she'd also been approached about a permit so it's seriously no joke!
That formality aside, you really can't go wrong eloping at Bear Lake. It's one of multiple lakes accessible by this trail head... Dream lake being the most well known. But Dream Lake is a 2mile hike and Bear lake is less than 1/8th of a mile so if you have any guests in attendance, Bear Lake is probably your best choice.
Forest & Kassidy had a beautiful & intimate elopement with their family members and a couple friends. It was an unseasonably warm early April day and although it was 60 degrees in Denver, there was still plenty of snow in the mountains.
If you're thinking about eloping at Bear Lake or Rocky Mountain National Park, I'd love to help you plan and then photograph and film your day. It's one of the most gorgeous locations in the country and just a quick jaunt from the Denver airport. With close parking and gorgeous views, this spot really can't be beat!
